A 46-bed innovative Neonatal Intensive Care Unit serves needs of high-risk infants. Noise abatement, increased privacy, reduced ambient light with increased natural and task lighting, and a commitment to co-bedding adjacency of up to four sibling infants were important principles that guided the design of a functional pod arrangement. Several are “multiple pods” which were the first designed and built in the world.
